In the Media, Jacqué on the Considering Art Podcast

"Californian artist Jacqué Price paints landscapes, animals and figures in what she calls a “representationally expressionistic” way. In this episode, she talks about a near-death experience which changed her life, how she initially gave up art to study neuropsychology and subsequently practise various forms of wellness therapies to contribute to society, how she took art up again after her own metal health suffered, and how she creates an “awkward, elegant aesthetic” in her paintings." Bob Chaundy, Considering Art Podcast

About the Artist

I'm  interested in the way my body wants to move in response to my internal experience. It's especially amusing to witness paradoxes that compete on the canvas. I often find myself embodying both the awkward and the elegant, the bold and the insecure, the honest and the exaggerated. Often I need to paint how I feel before I can understand it, and my work takes on deep meaning when it leads to aha moments and transformational revelations.  Whatever I feel, however I move, I want to see it in the texture, colors, and markings. The more sincere I can be as I work, the more satisfying it is to create and share.

This was my first painting class, the information and techniques immediately improved the quality of my paintings, even after just the first class. Her ability simplify and educate her audience on painting is amazing. I love her perspective, calmness and astute suggestions. I am excited to continue to learn more from Jacquè in future classes.

I love Jacque’s painting style and that value in learning the basic skills, while giving us freedom to make it our own and what may feel natural and personal.

"Jacque is obviously a very talented painter, and yet, also an amazing instructor. She's managed to boil down the key concepts of how to create a great painting. Her presentation, both verbally and through her slides, are instructive, supportive and very professional. I've been painting for over 14 years and I learned a lot of new things to improve my artwork. Bravo, Jacque!"
