Connect with like hearted sisters, paint in an inspiring environment, practice yoga on the beach at sunrise or under the stars, enjoy the views, swim in the lake, do a meditative walk on nature trails, receive a spa treatment.  There will be evening ceremonies to channel our primal feminine nature, embody the wild side, and let emotion move through our vessel (ie. Cacao Ceremony, Dance+ Movement, Candlelight yoga, Visualization/Hypnosis, Star Gaze, Body Paint).

ABOUT THIS EVENT

You are invited to journey alongside sisters as we all dive deep into our inner worlds, connect with our intuition, and express from our core. We gather to celebrate feminine strength in vulnerability, sisterhood, and creative healing expression. This event is open to any woman who wants to explore what lies in her unconscious in order to experience, accept, and express herself fully. We will natvigate the unconscious by way of surrealist/folk art, meditation, yoga, visualization/hypnosis, and sacred ceremonies.

FRIDA, the name of our event, is a tribute to one of the worlds most recognized female artists, Frida Kahlo. As we celebrate the sacred feminine in art and body, we reflect on Frida's uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form. There will be lessons in surrealism and folk art in our painting sessions as we study Frida's style with our own content. These reflective painting sessions will lay the foundation of our evening ceremonies, as we enter the watery depths of emotion and honesty through dance and movement.

You will connect with like hearted sisters, dabble in surrealism and folk art painting lessons inspired by Frida Kahlo, experience visualization/hypnosis to explore your unconscious mind for the creative process, take a swim in the lake or dip in the hot tub, hike to unbelievable views of the lake, stand-up paddle board atop the clear blue waters, take a meditation walk through the pines, connect to your inner goddess through dance and movement, join the candle-lit ceremonies and morning beach yoga sessions, gaze up at the stars, and howl at the moon, sleep in the relaxing, luxurious accommodations provided at a private residence, and enjoy delicious and nutritious organic vegetarian meals and snacks, (meat options available).

We will meet in North Lake Tahoe, the sacred Big Waters (Washoe), during the waning crescent moon in Pisces. A time to surrender, to feel the depths of our emotion and let it go. A perfect compliment to the event theme.

ACTIVITIES

Yoga  & Meditation

Daily yoga flow and meditation sessions on the beach invite you to reconnect with the wild and sacred nature in and around you. The sounds, the sights, the sensations, the feelings, the breath, and your intuition all are capable of bringing you to the present moment. Using stillness and movement, you can witness the now, and aim for a perpetual attitude of gratitude.

Our featured Yoga Instructor is Jennie Pitts Knipe!

A dedicated educator, Jennie Pitts Knipe has taught creative movement, dance and yoga classes throughout the western states and abroad for over two decades. She earned her MFA in Dance from the University of Colorado, her BA in Dance & English Literature from the University of Oregon, and completed her yoga instructor training at the Shambhava Yoga Konalani Ashram (2004). Based in the Reno/Tahoe region, she passionately applies her skills as a teacher and dance maker to help others CONNECT . . . with their own bodies, with one another, with the environment, and with their limitless capacity to express and evolve from the heart.

Art

You will have 2 three hour sessions over the weekend to study the surrealist artwork of Frida Kahlo, and dive into your own life content to create paintings that depict your present/desired reality. With visualization exercise we do beforehand, we can navigate past your internal filters to unlock deep truths and insights to inspire each painting session. Using folk symbols, your imagination, and inspiration from Frida's work, you will transcribe your visualizations on canvas. The alchemy is in daring to see the truth, and setting it free. (Beginner to Advanced instruction provided).

Nature

Take in all the beauty of Tahoe's North Shore, and breathe the fresh mountain air. Find peace and presence on the nature hikes, cold dips in the lake, sun bathing, or stand-up paddle boarding, and enjoy quiet morning yoga classes on the beach. The Tahoe basin has been sacred grounds for many ancestors, and the energy is potent in this place.

Ceremony

Evening rituals and creative group healing sessions will be offered to invite the wild and sacred feminine out to play! We will paint bodies in preparation for ceremony, light candles, enter hypnotic states of meditation, breath, and visualization, and partake in Sacred Cacao. Cacao ceremonies are rooted in Mayan and Aztec traditions in Central and South America. They have been used for spiritual and medicinal purposes, as well as inner awakening and creative guidance. Pure cacao is used as a heart opening medicine for people to safely experience awakening, revelation and energetic expansion of heart centered living. Ceremonial cacao is used by making a strong batch of a warm lightly sweetened cacao beverage that is given in small doses. intentions are set,  euphoric states are unlocked, emotions are released and we are able to connect to ourselves and the loving energy in our body. A dance and movement session follows, where we can embody the transformative effects of the cacao.

Raw cacao is a natural and ancient plant medicine, with a high concentration of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Cacao also increases blood flow (oxygen and nutrients) to the brain as well as induces the release of feel-good endorphins. It enhances the immune system and lowers cholesterol and blood pressure. Cacao is often used to change your perspective, enabling you to recognize and let go of repeated self-sabotaging patterns or habits, and release energetic and creative blocks. Naturally occuring caffeine in cacao gives you a burst of energy that helps you focus and improve your memory and is said to be a big creativity enhancer and facilitator of deep inner meditation and connections.

Visualization/Hypnosis

With 2 guided sessions of hypnosis/guided visualization led by certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Jacquelyne Price, you will have the opportunity to reveal unconscious memories and stories. We will call upon the unconscious during ceremony and art sessions for non-verbal processing, a way to bypass the conscious mind and dive into experiential healing. We use visualization/hypnosis to tap into the stories that may be getting in the way of experiencing yourself as the wise, wild, vulnerable, brave, and beautiful woman you truely are. You will practice getting in touch with your archetypal feminine power and grace, and let it literally move your body to reveal your true nature. The embodied feminine spirit that is calling to be set free within you is ready to live each day as a new possibility, and stop the cycle of re-creating the past. She is capable of transcending any ‘creative blocks’ in expressing your sacred feminine energy fully. You may laugh, cry, shake, howl, or even scream. Full expression is invited and encouraged to receive maximum benefit from this experience.
